How much graduate credit can I receive for Microsoft Professional Development?

Up to six hours.  Become a Certified Digital Educator by claiming the first three hours for your Microsoft Educator Certification and three more hours of credit by creating a portfolio that demonstrates effective use of the knowledge and skills you learned in your Microsoft Certified Educator coursework. Microsoft Certified Educators are eligible to receive 3 hours of graduate credit from Lamar University for completing the Microsoft Teaching with Technology professional development course and by passing the Microsoft Certified Educator Exam.

How much do the credits cost?

The graduate credits are offered tuition free, however you will pay a $100 transcription fee per credit-hour granted. Payment must be received in full before your transcript will be released.

What educational qualifications are required?

Any student who possesses a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in the United States is eligible to receive graduate credit. During the application process, you will be required to submit a copy of your transcript from the institution from which you received your degree.

Students with baccalaureate degrees from outside the United States may be eligible. Please see the Foreign Degree application page for more details.

Can I receive undergraduate credits?

No, not at this time.

When do I register?

You may apply for graduate credits for your Microsoft Certified Educator professional development at any time. Credits will be awarded as soon as your MCE professional development and undergraduate transcript are verified. Verification typically takes one to two weeks, depending on how soon your undergraduate transcript arrives.

For international applicants, please follow the international student process. Students from Canada and the UK are not required to complete a foreign transcript evaluation.

How much time do I have to claim my credits?

Credits must be claimed within three years of completion of your MCE award date.

Can I transfer credits into my graduate program?

That depends. Many programs do allow for transfer credits from another institution, yet some do not. You should check with your specific institution to determine eligibility and the amount of transfer credit allowed.
